Made from a renewable resource (coconut "coir" or husk fiber), Coco Peat lasts 3 times longer than peat moss, has superior disease resistance, nutrient storage, excellent air porosity and water retention (it holds **9 times its weight in water). 

In horticulture, cocopeat is recommended as substitute for peat because it is free of bacteria and fungal spores, and is sustainably produced without the environmental damage caused by peat mining.
